On 14 August 2026, the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) inaugurated its 22nd North America Working Committee Meeting, bringing together representatives from seven Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC) chapters across North America.

The Opening Ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Lobsang Sangay la, former Executive Member of TYC and former Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration. Chokor Rinpoche, TPiE Member Kunga Sontop la, and former TPiE Member Ven. Monlam Tharchen la attended as Special Guests, while former TYC President and former TPiE Member Tenzin Jigme la served as the Guest of Honour. Central TYC President Tsering Chomphel la also addressed the gathering.

During the opening ceremony, TYC launched its Annual Report in Tibetan and English as well as the Tibetan-language Rangzen Magazine. The Martyrs Honor Award was presented to the family members of Pawo Lobga Rangzen in recognition of his ultimate sacrifice for Tibetan independence and his courage and unwavering commitment to the cause of Tibet.

TYC also launched FactGuard – Tibet, an initiative dedicated to documenting Tibetan history, testimonies, and lived experiences through video in order to counter misinformation and disinformation surrounding Tibet. The initiative seeks to preserve authentic Tibetan narratives and provide credible historical testimonies in response to misleading narratives propagated by the Chinese government.

The 22nd Working Committee Meeting served as an important platform for Tibetan youth leaders across North America to strengthen unity, leadership, coordination, and collective action for Tibet and Rangzen.

On 16 August 2026, the third day of the meeting concluded with substantive discussions and important decisions. The Working Committee passed 15 resolutions across nine agendas, reaffirming TYC’s commitment to the Tibetan independence struggle and to strengthening its activities across North America.

In honour of Pawo Lobga Rangzen la and his ultimate sacrifice for Tibet’s independence, the Working Committee passed a resolution to officially include 2 July in TYC’s annual activities as a day to remember and honour his sacrifice.

The Organising Committee, RTYC New York & New Jersey, also presented a commemorative souvenir to each participating North American RTYC chapter as a token of appreciation and solidarity.

Remember the sacrifice. Continue the struggle. Stand for Rangzen.
