Lubhum Gyal set himself ablaze in the main street of Dowa Township in Rebkong. Lubhum died subsequently. China’s ate media Xinhua also reported on the incident and confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries. Tibetans defied official warnings and took his body to perform prayers and rituals near Dowa monastery where monks conducted the last rites at a nearby crematorium. Lubhum Gyal is survived by his father Tsego.
