Kharbum Gyal set himself on fire at 11 am near Rongwo Town in Rebkong County. Monks from the Rebkong Tsagya Monastery, and a large number of local Tibetans, carried out his last rites. Gyal, a native of Gyalpo Luchu in Rebkong is survived by his parents, Tamding Gyal and Dolkar Tso, and six siblings.
