"Tibetans for Bihar Flood Relief Team" which was set up by the Tibetan
Youth Congress on 05th September, 2008 to coordinate relief efforts
and provide support to those who are affected by the disaster
dispatched from Dharamshala to Bihar via Pathankot on 29th September,
2008.
The regional chapters of North East part of India have already began
their relief work two weeks back which was led by the RTYC North East
President Mr. Dawa Gyalpo and other regional volunteers. The
collections from regional chapters in South and North India were
stationed at Delhi.
Mr. Penpa Tsering of TYC Centrex left to survey the area few days
earlier and Mr. Tenzin Norsang from Centrex along with volunteers left
with donation amount and over two trucks of clothings to Bihar.
Tibetans across the Country contributed donation amount more than Rs.
70,000 through our Regional TYC.
Tibetans have always stood in solidarity with the people of India in
their hour of need when natural disasters have struck India. Whether
it is the devastating Cyclone that affected Orissa, the Earth Quake
that hit Gujarat, or the Tsunami, the TYC has persistently worked to
co-ordinate relief efforts in these hours of most pain and suffering
by setting up an relief team.
Our hearts go out to the millions of people who have been affected by
this devastating flood.
