Tibetans observed Martyrs Day in Delhi

Delhi, April 29 - Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of Samyeling (MT) organised a mass prayer meeting in memory and honour of late Pawo Thupten Ngodup and thousands of other brave Tibetan martyrs at the colony's monastery ground in the morning. Rtyc members of Samyeling offered Choemey Gyamchoe (Hundred Lamps) at the Monasteries and Mang-jha (Tea and snacks) to all the Tibetans who took part in the prayer meetings.

Later in the evening, Rtyc Samyeling (MT) organised a candle light vigil at Jantar Mantar (New Delhi). More than 100 Tibetans from Majnu-ka-tilla took part during the candle light vigil. After reciting prayers and observing 2 minutes silence in memory of all the Tibetan Martyrs, the assembled people sang Tibetan National Anthem at the venue where Pawo Thupten Ngodup self immolated in 1998. Followed by, Mr. Pempa Tsering, President of Rtyc MT read the Tibetan Youth Congress Central Executive Statement on the Tibetan Martyrs Day. Mr. Lobsang Tenpa Shastri, General Secretary of Rtyc mt recounted in brief the life history of late Pawo Thupten Ngodup.

Mr. Dhondup Dorjee, Information Secretary of TYC (Centrex) addressed the gatherings on behalf of the Central Executive Committee members. He said "Tibetan Youth Congress passed an unanimous resolution during its 10th General Body Meeting in 1998, to observe Tibetan Martyrs Day by all its regional chapters on the day late Pawo Thupten Ngodup flamed his body and sacrificed his life for the Tibetan People and Nation. Since then, TYC regional chapters have been organising various activities around the world on this particular day to pay our profound homage and tribute to all the selfless Tibetan martyrs who have made supreme sacrifice of their lives for the cause of Independent Tibet".

Mr. Narendra, President of Tibetan Youth Liberation Front also joined the candle light vigil with some Indian supporters belonging to their organisation. In the end, Mr. Dorjee Dhondup, Vice President of Rtyc MT thanked the people of Majnu-ka-tilla for their continous support and participation in all the Tibetan Youth Congress activities.

IUSY Asia - Pacific Committee Meeting was organized in the Official Meeting hall of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building in Ulaanbaatar , Mongolia . More than 25 delegates represented around 10 different Countries from the Asia - Pacific Region. Mr. Dhondup Dorjee, Information Secretary of Tibetan Youth Congress (Centrex) represented Tibet during the three day meeting from 08th till 10th June, 2007.

The key Agenda of the meeting was on "How Social Democracy can counter Neo Liberalism in Asia – Pacific" . On the inaugural session, Mr. Enkhbold N, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Lundeejantsan D, Deputy Speaker of Mongolian Parliament addressed the meeting by highlighting their government's initiatives and economic policies carried out in Mongolia . Mr. Zandanshatar, President of the Mongolian Democratic Socialist Youth Union and also a Members of Parliament talked about the importance of socialist democratic ideals and the achievements of MDSYU.

On the second day, a country report on Tibet was presented by the Tibetan delegate. After a brief historical background on Tibet , he stressed on the present developments within Tibet in the recent past and activities of the Tibetan Youth Congress. All resolution on Tibet was passed unanimously except, the resolution number (iv) which was objected only by the ethnic han Chinese Mr. Anthony Loke. In the afternoon session, Mr. Anthony Loke, Vice President of IUSY and also an ethnic Han Chinese who represented Malaysia , while chairing the session tabled a surprised open discussion on China and engaging with the Chinese Communist Youth Organization. Almost every representative objected the idea of including China as a member of IUSY, including the chairperson himself Mr. Anthony.

Miss Marie Chris Cabreros from Phillipines expressed IUSY's main objectives and expectations by engaging with the Chinese Youth Organization. The delegates from India , Burma , Nepal and the rest suggested the importance of engaging with China but without undermining the IUSY's passed resolutions on Tibet and its principles. Mr. Dhondup Dorjee from Tibet expressed the significance of engaging with China and not isolating them. But objected the very idea of engaging with the Youth Organization of Chinese Communist Party which is completely controlled and administered by the CCP. He further elaborated on the role of so called NGO's in China , Youth Organization of CCP and how it will contradict the principles and values advocated by International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) by engaging with the morally wrong organizations or individuals which doesn't have people's mandate.

On the last day, after adoption of resolutions and making amendments to ideological debate. Press conference was organized at the meeting hall. The meeting received enormous coverage in both print and electronic media. During and after the meeting, Tibetan representative met some influential personalities in Mongolia and academician from Mongolian Buddhist University to support for the cause of Tibetan freedom struggle and to further relations between the youths of Mongolia and Tibetans in exile.

Resolution passed on Tibet in IUSY Asia-Pacific Committee Meeting at Ulaanbatar , Mongolia : 08th June till 10th June, 2007.

To accept Tibet as an independent State and condemn the illegal occupation of Tibet .

To stop the demographic transformation policy of China which results in the large influx of Chinese into Tibet particularly after the Gormo – Lhasa Railway network.

To call upon the United Nations to resume the debate based on its resolution passed in 1959, 1961 and 1965 on Tibet .

To pressurize for the boycott of 2008 Beijing Olympic as China continue genocide in Tibet and pursue it's imperialist ambitions threatening peace in Asia and the world at large.

To help restore human rights in Tibet and support the freedom movement of Tibetan people and to put pressure on China for the unconditional release of all political prisoners in Tibet including Panchen Lama and Tulku Tenzin Delek.
